How to Play Roulette
The object of Roulette is to pick the number, color, odd or even number, or combination of numbers that appear on the roulette wheel. It seems easy, doesn't it! Well it's not!
There are two variations of the roulette game the European and American versions. The European wheel has 37 slots numbered 0-36. The house edge is 2.63. The American wheel has 38 numbers because the added a double zero (00). The addition of the extra number increases the house edge to 5.26 percent. The Roulette table layout has two betting areas. The inside betting area contains the individual numbers on the layout. The numbers on the inside are arranged in 12 rows of three numbers making forming three vertical columns. The 0 and 00 are at the top of the columns. The outside betting area has boxes for the columns, red/black and odd/even and different groups of numbers.
To play roulette you must buy in or purchase special roulette chip from the table you are going to play at. These special chips are color coded for that particular table. To avoid disputes between players each player receives a different color chip. These chips are good for that table only and you must cash them in when you get done playing. You will them be given regular casino chips to take to the cage. You cannot cash in the roulette table chips at the cage.
When you play roulette each table has a minimum and maximum bet and will be posted on the table. Also there are minimum bets for inside and outside bets and you can't combine these two bets for the minimum bet.
The dealer is required to keep the wheel moving at all times, even between spins. The dealer spins the ball in the opposite direction from the spinning wheel. This causes the ball to be totally random in where it falls because the ball will jump and spin before it lands on a number. Once the ball lands on a number the dealer will place a marker on the winning number on the table. You are not allowed to place your bet on the next spin until the dealer removes the marker.
